
H.E. Shani Cooper
Shani Cooper is the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra-Leone, since 15th of August 2018.
From 2016 until her current position, she was Deputy Chief of Mission at the Israeli Embassy in Ankara (Turkey) and served a few months as a Charge` D`affairs while the ambassador was recalled for consultations.
Ms. Cooper joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after completing the cadet course in 2006. She held various positions at postings abroad such as the spokesperson of the Israeli embassy in Cairo, Egypt (2007-2010) and Deputy Head of Mission at the embassy of Israel in Nicosia, Cyprus (2010-2013). She was appointed Deputy Director at the Southern European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specifying in the relations with Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Malta and Bulgaria. In this position she was responsible for the building of the Israel-Cyprus-Greece trilateral cooperation.
Earlier, in 2003, she worked for “Ha’aretz” newspaper as Head of Desk and News Editor, and was also an assistant professor for political science at the Tel Aviv University and at the Open University.
Shani Cooper holds a B.A. degree in political science and Journalism (Magna Sum Laude) and an M.A. degree in Political Science (Magna Sum Laude), both from Tel Aviv University. She speaks Hebrew (fluent), English (fluent) and Arabic (very well).
She was born on August 16th, 1977. She is married and has two daughters.
