Mariam worka as a Senior Partnerships Associate for MEST, based in Accra, Ghana.
MEST offers aspiring entrepreneurs from Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and Cote d’Ivoire a technology-focused training program to help with their start-up idea. We also have incubators in Accra, Lagos, Nairobi, and Cape Town to help the entrepreneurs scale their businesses.
At MEST, Mariam supports their global partners to ensure they are able to access the most relevant products for sponsorship, for their brand awareness and digital innovation objectives.
Prior to this she worked as as an advertising sales executive for various international media organisations, including CNN Africa and CNBC International, in London. Here she sold sponsorship of key programming to corporates in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and across Europe for three years.
Before this Mariam lived in Accra for one year in 2014, managing the sales team for JumiaFood, and ensuring all of the city’s top vendors and corporates were on the platform.
Finally, she has also had the opportunity to live and work in Nairobi, for the research firm Oxford Business Group, managing their ad sales revenue.
A native of Karachi, she is passionate about economic development, West African art & design, and enjoying food from many regions.
Mariam holds a BA in Economics and Politics from SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), University of London.
